FRAGMENTS, similar. L. 3 in. to if in. From Mezil Magoula, near Pharsalos.
Dark-ahd-light polished ware, in parallel stripes or zigzags. The dark lines, red (1) or
brown (2-3) are raised, and the marks of scraping can be seen on the light background, as in
the Lianokladi technique (A 140).

FRAGMENTS. L. 2J in. to ii in. From Rakhmani. As Prehistoric Thessaty, fig. 20,
a-f, pp. 27, 14-15 (A 3 y. A 3 f). Dark red ware striped with bands of lighter shade in the
polished surface. Nos. 1 and 2 exactly resemble the preceding fragments from Tsangli ; in the
others the bands of lighter colour are slightly raised, as if the surface has been burnished down
between them, and the relief.has caused the more exposed surface to perish. No. 3 is entirely
red in colour, and the oblique stripes contrast as rough and smooth ; no. 4 is of pale whitish
clay, and the stripes (chevrons) have a pink tinge. (Fig. 36.)

Fig. 36.—Red "Wake, Polished ok Painted. First (Neolithic) Pekiod.

Red ware painted with designs in white.

As Aifirjvi Kai Sc'o-kXo, pi. 6, I (in colours) ; Prehistoric Thessaty, p. 14 (A 3 a).

FRAGMENTS with painted decoration. L. 3I in. to if in. From Tsangli. Prehistoric
Thessaty, p. 91. Polished red ware, as A 121, etc., with the addition of white painted decoration.
No. 1, a sharply curved shoulder with boss, has a white ring with short radiating strokes
around the boss. The other patterns are diagonal or zig-zag bands of parallels, no. 4 with a
pendent bunch of lines on the angle. No. 5, of dark clay and thin fabric similar to A 136,
etc., has the while bands on a black polished surface. (Fig. 36.)

FRAGMENTS, similar. L. 2| in. to if in. From Tsani. As Prehistoric Thessaty, fig.
83 a, b. Solid and linear patterns in thick white paint on bright red clay: a band of triangles
