A 433. JUG with bridged spout. Ht. 3! in. From Palaikastro, AsB.S.A., ix,.p.307, fig. 7, 2, Plate VI-

Low conical body curving in to flat base, with a spout as last, but bridged
by uncut rim; and one round loop handle set vertically. Light brown clay,
covered with red wash, which has greatly perished.

A 434. JAR with spout. Ht. 3} in. From Knossos ; presented by Sir Arthur Evans. Handle

wanting. As/.ff.S.', xxiii, p. 167, fig. 1, 12.

Shape as A 424, with flat base and slightly
set-off foot. On the shoulder, below the rim, is a
tubular spout set obliquely, with horizontal top ; on
the opposite side was a round loop handle, which
is broken away. Light yellow clay, covered with
a dull red wash, which is burnt black in parts,
unevenly ; degenerate Vasiliki ware. (Fig. 92.)

Inverted conical shape : straight sides tapering from plain lip to narrow
flat base. Red clay covered with a lustrous wash of the same colour which is fired
black in places.

JUG with bridged spout. Ht. 5 in. From the Gulf of Mirabello. Shape as Mochlos, Plate VI.
fig. 37, XVI. 8. A small part of one side is restored.

The form combines features of both A 432 and A 433: pear-shaped body
with bridged spout and one handle. Fabric rough but light ; pale buff, open
clay covered on upper half of body with a dull brown-black wash on which is
decoration in thick white paint. The patterns are a continuous band of eight
cross-hatched pointed ovals between two pairs of thin lines, and a pair of thin
bands in white on the black handle.

CUP with spout. Ht. 3 in. Provenance as last.

The body slopes inwards above and curves
inwards below from widest point near the base.
A trough-spout is bent out of the lip, and at
right angles to this on either side is a vertical
round loop handle. Light brown clay covered
with red-black wash on which is simple decora-
tion in white paint : horizontal bands and a row
of linked spiral coils. Thin, brittle fabric as last.
