forms a halo around the head of a female figurę standing on a plinth, clothed
in garments decorated with the letters of various alphabets, an attribute taken
from the representation of the dypography in the Iconologia by Ripa.

The French analogy of Die Buchdruckenkunst... was the two-volume
Manuel Typograpbiąue... by Pierre Fournier, published in Paris in 1764-1766.
The first volume is decorated with an engraving L’art Typograpbiąue designed
by one of the best known rococo graphic artists, Flubert Gravelot (ill. 12).
