Bibliography: Catalogue 1895, no. 34 (as Wilhelm Mieris); Catalogue
1900-1908, no. 67 (as Dutch school, 17 cent.); P Weloński, no. 154 (as Gerard
de Lairesse); M. Bohdziewicz, M. Potemski, Galeria Malarstwa Obcego, II,
Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, pp. 16, 25, no. 11, ill. 17 (as Gerard de Lairesse).

The suggested attrihution is based on an analogy to a painting attributed
to Elliger by S. Gudlaugsson, Nuptials, once located in Kassel (no. 466);
a photograph of it is found in the RKD in the Hague in the folder “School of
Gerard de Lairesse”. Jeroen Giltaij of Rotterdam, in a letter of November 12,
1997, emphasised the connections with de Lairesse and suggested taking into
consideration Terwesten, meaning probably Augustin Terwesten the Elder
(1649-1711).
