i. Vase. Bronze. Reddish brown, with dark green spots. Height 3^ inches. Diam-
eter of body, 2}4 inches. Found at Curium in a vault.
Base is short, slightly flaring. Body ovoid. Neck cylindrical, with outward roll at
top.
2. Mace-Head. Bronze. Dark and light green. Length 3 inches. Long circumference
9J/2 inches. Weight 1 pound 13 ounces. Found at Curium in a vault.
3. Lamp-Stand. Bronze. Shades of green. Height 1 \l/\ inches. Found at Curium in
a vault.
The collection contains fourteen examples. In general they consist of a conical or cylin-
drical socket and a decorated upper part, which resembles Egyptian lotus columns. The socket
fitted upon a standard, and was fastened by a rivet (rivet hole here visible). Three narrow ridges
(3l/z inches from the bottom) are at the smallest part of the socket, which then flares (iyk inch) to
a disk-shaped shoulder. The upright then contracts to 3^ mch t0 f°rm the stem of an inverted
eight-petal flower of flattened spheroidal shape (height of flower 1% inch, diameter 2% inches).
Some examples show two, others three of such flowers. Above this flower is a disk whose edge
is decorated with raised bands and a depressed zone in the middle. From the edge of this disk
there rise three petal-like stems, which flare slightly and curl over at the end (3^ inches high).
These stems are three-faced, flat toward the inside. Near the top they are joined together by a
ring, upon which, in one case at least, a lamp like that shown in Plate XLIV, 3, was found in situ.
Some examples have diagonal braces supporting the curled points at the top.

body, 2l/2 inches. Found at Curium in a vault.
Base is short and cylindrical; body, pear-shaped; neck is small and broken away 3^ mcn
from body.
