PLA TE LXV. CONTINUED.

The wings are spread horizontally, flat and plain. The front part of the right wing is visi-
ble beneath the beak, and the extremity of its spread, over the bird's back as here shown. Beak
is hooked; left eye is inlaid in black and white. The head has a grotesque ornamentation of
curled feathers, one on each side and three in the middle, all bent back to the base of the neck.
The central feather ends in a raised coil. The tail is divided into eight sections by grooved lines.
The feet are pierced sidewise, probably to fasten same to a standard for support.

5. Goat or antelope. Bronze. Brown tints. Deeply corroded. Height, 5 inches. From
Amathus.

The collection contains two examples; both heavy and rough. The horns of the other
specimen are more like those of a gazelle.
