Begin the sky with cobalt, softening down towards the horizon into
light red, the mountains with the same two colours mixed with a little
gamboge ~ ; adding more light red for the nearer mountains
and at the lower part, yellow ochre, with a little indigo ; the reflection
of the mountains upon the water with the same tint as the mountains
afterwards, when quite dry, a little yellow ochre passed over the whole. The
cottage and wall yellow ochre, and a very little sepia. The shadows
the same, made stronger the road, indian red, and little black 2
the markings upon the road the same two colours but stronger; the
roof of the cottage, cobalt, and lake ~ .
