ITALIC TOMB-GROUPS: NARCE 16F

dium fine texture, black at core, red toward surface,
which is black. Handmade. High polish. Band of
impressed rope pattern at base of rim; handle edged with
the same. Shallow flutings on shoulder.

0.028 m., D. 0.052 m. Handle and portion of rim re-
stored, surface damaged. Fabric of medium fine tex-
ture, grey throughout. Handmade.

0.057 m. Diagonal incised lines on outer surface.

1009, D. 0.029 m. Broken. One end is preserved and
shows that two strands united at their ends were coiled
together.

D. 0.03 m. Both ends broken.

31. Three Diminutive Bronze Bullae. Pl. XXIII.
M.S. 1017a, b and c, D. 0.007 m. Intact. Made from
a single piece of bronze. Two paste beads similar to the
foregoing, but smaller, adhere to the tops of two of
these bullae.
32. Two Fragments of Silver, approximately
hemispherical. Pl. XXIII. M.S.1029b and c, D.
0.006 and 0.008 m.
33. Bronze Button. Pl. XXIII. M.S.1016, D.
0.011 m. A small shank on the concave face.
34. Fragmentary Gold-Plated Bronze Disk. Pl.
XXIII. M.S.1015, D. 0.012 m. Three concentric
grooves about a central boss.
COMPARANDA
1. A tomb of a child with miniature offerings was ex-
cavated at Vulci, Adi. 1835, p. 118. A miniature
painted vase-carrier found in a trench-tomb at Narce is
now in the Museo Archeologico, Florence, the tomb-
fellow of a painted situla like that from Narce 23 M.

this tomb reads: “This
tomb is entirely similar
to tomb Ficola 2, and the
same description fits it.
It was in the same local-
ity. Its measurements are
as follows” and then is
added a plan of the tomb
as shown in Fig. 30. The
bronzes which were found
