bronze cups arranged on their sides.1 On further clearing out of the
deposit, however, it turned out that the supposed cups were the handles of
a pile of four large bronze basins presenting magnificent foliate and floral
ornamentation in relief, accompanied by a richly decorated ewer in the same
metal. In view of this discovery, coupled with the religious character of the
relics already described, we have every reason to recognize in this building
the Treasury and Annexe of a Palace Shrine.
