other. There is a very attractive set of illustrations to the „Golden Ass“.
Contains also the famous letter of Beroaldus “ad Petrum Archiepiscopum Colocensem”. (P. V a r d a y,
archbishop of C o 1 o c z a, Hungary). — Sl. browned and waterstained in places. First and last leaf
remargined.

Contemporary colouring. In the original binding of oak boards covered with
finely blind tooled brown calf, on the front- cover the inscription: „D’Raingvg“,
clasps wanting. 500.—
Panzer 672 c (after Zapf, Augsburgs Buchdruckergesch. II 49, 16 — the copy of
St. Gallen). Weller 535 with variations regarding the title and the number of
woodcuts (counting 3 instead of 11), also after the St. Gallen copy and mentioning
a turther copy at Freiburg i. Br.
A most interesting early Augsburg woodcutbook which is in this variant apparenrly
unknown to the bibliographers. The woodcuts of it have never been described nor
considered in the history of art.
The first part of this devotional booklet contains an exegesis of some psalms, the
second part a series of prayers.
In the best state of preservation: only on two pages, two capitals are slightly
damaged with some loss.
