It is a diminished authorial replica of the non-
existent portrait (once in the Potockis' collec-
tions in Warsaw) painted in 1789, after the bat-
tle for the fortress Sabacz (1788) in the Austrian-
Turkish war, in which the prince distinguished
himself by his valour and became wounded. The
second authorial replica can be found in the
National Museum in Poznan, and a copy — in
the National Museum in Wroclaw.
The sitter is represented with the fortress in
the background, in the uniform of an officer
of Austrian light-cavalrymen, with the star
of the White Eagle.
