Stanisiaw Tadeusz GROCHOLSKI RW
Born at Zofynia near Lancut in 1858 — Died in Buffalo, U.S.A., in 1932
He studied, consecutivety, in the Cracow Schooi of Fine Arts (1877-1880) — under
Wfadysfaw Luszczkiewicz and Jan Matejko, at the Viennese Academy under Karl Wurzin-
ger, in Paris under Leon Bonnat and at the Munich Academy under Alexander Wagner.
!n Munich, where he lived for over twenty years, he conducted (from 1891 on) his own
painting school. He was a member of the Munchener Sezession. In 1901 he took up
residence in the United States.
He painted mainly genre scenes, often emptoying the Hutsul and Jewish themes, portraits
and religious compositions. He was also a drawer and Htustrator.
