4 roten Linien und untergeleg-
tem lateinischen Text in schöner
und deutlicher, nur an wenigen
Stellen unbedeutend verbliche-
ner Lapidarschrift. Moderner,
dunkelblauer Maroquinband mit
Goldpressung. 2400.—
Anfang: In nomine domine in-
cipit antiphonarium nocturnum se-
cundum consuetudinem Romane
curie. Über Entstehungsjahr, Schrei-
ber und frühere Besitzer finden sich
keine Angaben. Der Hauptwert des
Manuscripts besteht in den präch-
tigen und eigenartigem, von der
herkömmlichen Schablone durchaus
abweichenden, sehr geschmackvoll
und sorgfältig in bunten Deckfarben,
aber ohne Gold ausgeführten Ini-
tialen, die zum Teil Miniatur-
gemälde enthalten. Besonders be-
merkenswert ist ein A (150X134
mm, Bl. 1 b) in sechs Farben: rotes,
grünes und gelbes Rankenwerk auf
dunkelblauem Grunde, besetzt mit
stilisierten Blumen, dazu oben kämp-
fende Drachen, unten springende
Wölfe. Ganz ähnlich ornamentiert
und gleichfalls in sechs Farben ge-
malt, aber ohne Tierfiguren, sind
folgende Initialen: H (91X67, Bl.
6a), E (61X61, Bl. 9a), C (57X70,
Bl. 20a, darin ein Engel, der auf
einer Tuba bläst), H (91X96, Bl. 25a),
5 (69X62, Bl. 29 b), V (66X77, BI.
Antiphonary. Valuable ma-
nuscript on parchment, in good
condition, only here and there
somewhat repaired, 14th Cen-
tury, large-folio (480X340 mm),
probably of Italian origin. 112
leaves, with 8 lines of music-
notes each and a Latin text in
clear and distinct lapidary
characters. Modern dark blue
moroccobinding, gilt. 2400.—
It begins: In nomine domini in-
cipit antiphonarium nocturnum se-
cundum consuetudinem Romane
curie. There are no indications as
to the date, the names of the scribe
and of the former owners. Of a
particular value are the fine and
peculiar initials, most carefully
executed in body-colours, but without
gold. They sensibly differ from the
usual style and embrace partly mi-
niature paintings. Of a special
interest is a letter A (150X134 mm,
on f. 1 b) in 6 colours: red, green
and yellow leafy-work on dark blue
background, ornamented with formal
flowers struggling dragons and jum-
ping wolves. Similar representations,
but without animal figures, are the
following initials likewise in 6 colours:
H (91X67 mm, f. 6a); E (61X61 mm,
f. 9 a); c (57X70 mm, f. 20 a, with
an angel, blowing the tuba); H
(91X96 mm, f. 25 a); S (69X62 mm,
