To-day, the 15th of August, 1953
4 marks the completion of six year’s of
successful existence of the Himalayan
Times and ushers in another year of
bright hope and success.
On this -auspicious day, we send out
to all frieads — subscribers, advertisers
and contributors — patrons and agents
our sincere and very best wish s and
compliments for the excellent part played
. by each of them during the past six-
years without which it would not have
been possible for us to be seen
exixtina today despite many a vicissi-
tudes that we, had to fight through to
survive till its Seventh Foundation Day.
And while we would not spare any
pain to. serve you. we sincerely hope that
your usual tvalued patronage will always
be Available to light our path as on th:s
happy day of Kith August we further
take- a step forward.

SASSOON” FUND
Applications from the disabled ex-
servicemen are invited by the Secretary,
I. S S. & A. Board, Ministry of Defence,
New Delhi for the grants from “Sir
Victor Sassoon” Fund. '1 he forms of
application can be had from the office
of the Secretary, 1). S. S. A A. Board,
Darjeeling or from the S.D.O., Kalim-
pong. Conditions of eligibility are as
follows ,—
1. The applicant must be an ex ser-
viceman of any arm of the Defence
Services.
2. The applicant must have lost a
limb or limbs as a result of active
service or of duty in peace. In ’ other
words, this disability must be attribu-
table to or aggravated by service and
must be in receipt of a disability pen-
sion on that account
Ex-servicemen disabled on account of
other diseases are not eligible for a grant.
, 3. The applicant must have received
vocational training in a trade at a' re-
cognised institution and must have passed
in that trade.
