NEPALI
Service To 1942 Movement

sador, Mr Harishwai' Da-
yal, today presented K(.
5 00U to Mr. Lallan t'ra-
tap Singh for the active
service rendered by his
late fattier to the Indian
freedom movement of
1942.

Mr. Singh's father,
the late Mr. Tarini Pra-
sad of Saptari District,
south Nepal, had sheltered
the Snrvodaya loader,
Mr Jai I'rakash Narain,
. and bis colleagues, Dr.
Ram Manohar Lobia and
Mr Vijaya Patwurdhan,
when Mr. Narain escaped
from imprisonment in
Hazaribagh jail in 1942.
Mr. Narain was re arrested
in Nepal by Rana rulers
and Mr. Tarini Prasad
rescued him from the
Hanumaunagar police look-
up. Mr. Tarini Prasad
was arrested and tortured
by the liana admioistra
tion, and be die I shortly
after his release. His
wife died of shook three
or four weeks after his
death. .

ing of Gitdubling Junior
Basic Sohool was perfor-

cer, Kalitrpong on Maroh
29. 1960 in presence of
a huge gathering of the
villagers of the surround-
ing Khasmahal Blocks
The sohool building has
bem constructed by the
District School Board,
Darjeeling at a cost of
Rs. 13,000/-

Presiding over a meet
ing held on the oocassion,
Shri D. C. Mookerjee
dwelt upon the programme
of the Government for
the spread of education
and urged upon 'the peo-
ple to take the fullest
advantage of the same.
The Qeneral Servioe Medal
of the Army was also
presented to Shri Soni
Sherpa by the Subdivi-
sional Officer, Kalimpong.
The function ooncluded
with a song from the
student! of Gitdubling
Junior Basic School.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION AT
PRANAMIMANDIR SCHOOL

The annual prize dis-
tribution oeremony of
Pranami School was held
on Monday at the Mandir
ball. Rev. W. M. Soott,
Principal S. U. M. I. dis-
tributed the prizes. The
students of the Sohool
gave a programme of
variety performance. Mr.
Soott & Mr. N. B Gurung,
Deputy Minister men-
tioned about the necessity
of a bigger publio hall
at Kalimpong, in their
■peeohes on the occaaaoin.
