DEVELOPMENT OF CO-OPERATIVES IN 1960-61

plan for oo.perative deve-
rative development for

rod by the National Co-
operative Development
and Warehousing Hoard
through which most of
the Central assistance to
States for cooperative
development is routed.
The plan covers various
asotors of oo operative
movement, like credit,
marketing, processing and
storage.
Abovt 28, 440 service
co-operative societies are
expected .to come up du-
ring the year either by
fresh organisation or by
revitalisalion of existing
sooieties. The programme
of large-sized aocirtira
has already been discon-
tinued from April last
year. For suoh of these
sooieties, which are eligi-
ble for assistance, due
provision has been made
in the plan.
In the marketing
sphere, about 1674 socie-
ties will be functioning
by the end of the fourth
year of the Second Plan.
The Plan provides for
tha establishment or re-.
organisation of 267 more
institutions thus bringing
the number to 1831 by
the end of 1960-61

by 1969-60, 232 prooee.

existence; Apart from this,
the Central and State
Warehousing Corporations
will have provided storage

Kurseong, March 26
Another batch of
volunteers of the West
Bengal National Volun-
teers Training Centre,
Kurseong had the passing
out Parade at the Retreat
after their suoosssful com-
pletion of 76 day 's train-
ing. The parade was
inspected by Sri A. B.
Chowdhury, I P.8., J.P.,
S.P. Darjeeling who also
took the Salute. In his
brief speech. Sri Chow-
dhury impressed upon the
volunteers to serve in
their own locality & nlitise
the training they received
in the Training Centre.
He also assured that the
volunteers who would
oome upto the minimum
standard they will ba
taken in the Police De-
ptt. whenever needed.
Prizes were distribu-
ted by Sri Chowdhury at
tha and of tha function.
