PEOPLE'S MORALE HIGH

The morale of the people
throughout the district is high.
There is at rone determination

to resist aggression. There, is
also a great deal of enthusiasm
everywhere for joining Home
Guards. Committees have K-i-n
formed in different villages in
Sub-Division of Kalimpoiig and
people have Already started bard
work in fields for better yields.

In town contributions for
Rational Defence Fund has
been encouraging but it shouh-
have been better, Ladies ftj'e
knitting woollen garments forotu
Jawans. Ollice workers, teachers,
students and all others are full,
of enthusiasm. The- price level
has also been maintained.
All these indicate people's
determination to help our
Government in driving outihe
enemy. It is hoped this spirit
of cooperation will be main*
tained throughout the emergency
period.

degree college The long felt
demand of the people of Ka-
Hriipony has been redressed at

KUMUDIN1 HOMES

Kalimpong, Nov. 14
Kumndini Homes celebra-
ted Prime Minister Nehru's
birthday with- usual vitality
and splendour.; Some of the
highlights of the day were the
various short items put up by
the children of the Montessory
Ke"tion in an esn,uisitilv splen-
ded manner. Rhri T. R. Sliarma,
Headmaster of the school and
Sri S. B. Mazumdar, S D. O.
made short .speeches on the
significance of the flay. In
his shop but invigorating speech,
Sri S B Mazumdar told how

On this auspicious day,
Sri Mazumdar also opened the

INSPECTOR GrNERAL
VISITS KALI: ONG

Kalimpong, Nov, 16
The Inspector General of
Police, West. Bengal visited Ka-
limpong and surrounding areas
this week. He met the leading
citizens of Kalimpong at the
Town Hall and appealed to
join Home Guards in large
numl >ers- He also appealed to
join hands in order to throw
put the invaders out of our
sacred Motherland. Earlier a
wreath m Ladakh Martyers
Memorial was placed by him.

NEWS uF THE
FRONT

MONDAY:

An advancing Chinese pat-
rol was beaten back by the
Indian troops a few miles north-
east of Jang in the Towang
area. In the Waking area, two
clashes took place between In-
dian and Chinese patrols. A
Chinese party, which titteinpted
to probe one of tiie Indian
positions in the vicinity of
VValong was also repulsed.
TUESDAY:

There has been, active pat-
rolling by Indian troops both
in N&FA and LadaV.lt but no
clashes have occurred.
WEDNESDAY:

But for a clash between
an Indian patrol and "a Chi-
nese poshiou" a few miles
north west of Waking in NEE A,
there hns Wen little activity
in either of the two sectors of
Indian territory invaded by the
Chinese. According to an otli-
cial statement this <-vvning there
were no casualties on our side
as a result uf the clash' near
Walong:
THURSDAY:

The tiiiee-wcek-old lull in

troops swung into the attack

Heavy fighting is going on
in Walung area between Indian
& Chinese Troops. The Chinese
have, not made any significance
advance.
SATURDAY:

Due to heavy Chines* ple-
asure our troops had to give
up some advance posts in
Walong area.
