In Che first Btages of
the Republic, Tibet and
Outer Mongolia loosened
the tics that bound them
to Peking; The new Re-
public reiter-itod its claims
6?h Tibet.

After the loss of Man-
churia, the Chinese Na-
tionalists pursued mr
actively the pastime of
tracing historical claims
on territories, which were
under Chinese suzerainty
or connected by even
more nabulous ties.

The present Chinese
Government iB not lagging
behind in reviviug old
claims, though they pro-
fess to have given up
their ancient imperialistic
policy of aggression. In-
rUeri, they are doing one
better than their preda-
tory Fiticettors, Having
gobbled up the "Tibet
region of China they
are now invading the
traditional frontiers of
India in the north and
north-east, which have
never been in their pcg-
session ' for i 0,1 (JO years
of Chinese h istory", in
the words of Shri Nehru,

What do all these
developments portend ?

"China, which 0}aimed
ft nd still claim.; In be
anti-imperialist , Prime
Minister Nehiu said in
I*ok Sabha on November
S "is pursuing a course
today for which ccmpa
riaous can only be sought

in the eighteenth and ninr-
teeth centuries. In those
past days, the European
Powers in the full flood
of imperialist aggression
and with strength and
weapons given to them
by the Industrial Revo-
lution took possession cf
large parts of Asia and
Africa, by force.

"That imperialism has
abated now, and many of
the colocihe of European
countries have been freed
and are independent coun-
tries. But, curiously, the
very champions of anti-
imperialism, that is. the
People's Government of
China, are now following
the course of aggression
and imperialist expension."
