INDIA TO FORCE ISSUE IF
CHINESE DO NOT EE AVE

Tezpur, December 6.

Mr. Nehru declared
at Press conference here
today that if tba Chinese
did not withdraw comple-
tely from Indian territory,
"then we have to force
the issue and it wonld
be for India to choose
the next course of action."

Shortly before leaving
by air for New Delhi in
the afternoon he told a
public meeting that should
the Chinese pull out their
forces behind the Mc-
Mahon Line, India would
be prepared to oonsider
other peaceful means for
settling the Sino Indian
border dispute.

The Indian Prime Mi-
nister told correspondents
at the looal Circuit House
that be understood from
the Chin*se offer that
they would withdraw be-
hind the McMahon Line
and would keep their
posts beyond it.

He said that following
the Chinese withdrawal-
civil administration and
police posts would be set
up in those areas of NBFA
which had been overrun
by the invaders

India he categorioally
stated in answer to a
question, would not allow
any ground troops from

any otner country lo fight
on her side to defend her
border*.

Foreign advisers in
various shape and form
might come but :'we do
not expect any ground
troops from any other
country."

TEZPUR

Sixty-four wounded
jawans and road-buildfera-

Indian Red Cross at Bom-

Mr, Basanta Ghosh,
editor of Sangharsa, a
Bengali weekly, was re-
arrested here yesterday
under the Defence of India
Rules. Bail was refused.
He had been arreBted ear-
lier under the Security
Act and came out cn bail
a few days ago.
