At the base os the ornament are three masks between two dolphins. A
little higher are six Cupids sitting on a ledge and playing with balls : above
them are two dolphins, higher again two Nereids and finally two dolphins
clinging to the side os a vase. White ground. Signed 5 • a below.

16. UPRIGHT ARABESQUE WITH MASKS, CUPIDS AND A HEAD OF
AENEAS. P. v. 84, 53.—K. 35.
On the base os the ornament, which rests on lions’ feet and is flanked
by two masks of Satyrs, appears a bust identified by the inscription
iiejeas troia9. The upper part os the design is divided into sour
members, adorned with masks, cupids, dolphins, grotesque heads and sruit.
White ground. Signed 5 • a • below.
[400 x 113] Good early impression, somewhat irregularly cut r. and 1., clipping
extremities of two ssames r. and 1.

17. A. UPRIGHT ARABESQUE IN THE FORM OF A PILASTER, WITH
THE DEVICE “AB OLIMPO.” P. v. 83, 48 (= 47 = 49).
A pilaster with Ionic volutes is adorned with an arabesque design ;
at the base sits a Nereid with a child, holding a round shield on which
are the initials I • A ■ On a band in the centre is the inscription ab
olimpo, and on a ledge immediately below are seated two cats. Sur-
mounting a suit of armour at the top is an oblong tablet without inscrip-
tion. Ground darkly cross-hatched.
[288 x 33 (width of pilaster)-54 (span of volutes)] Good early impression, cut close
round the design.
