CATALOGUE OF MANUSCRIPTS

[42-

Dominus noster 63.
Angli saxones martiani principis tempore . . . . f. 86
Here begins the portion printed by Thorpe, I. 1.
Ending in 1131. Serio...circescestrensis ecclesie abbatis iure pre-
ficitur (Thorpe, II. 92). 153 b, 154 blank. The text of Thorpe, 11. 1
(a.d. 1067), begins on 137 b.
Pendil notes (xiii) in the margin (and some of cent, xv) call attention
to many of the special Abingdon additions.
The MS. was used by Petrie {Mon. Hist. Brit.} and Thorpe (see
n. p. xi) whose symbol for it is L. The Abingdon additions were
excerpted and printed together by Wharton, A. S. 1.163-169 (and
see p. xxiv).

43. Ianuensis Sermones.

C. 2

Vellum, 14I x 9f, ff. 7 + 279, double columns of 53 lines. Cent,
xiv, in two clear hands, with good decoration. Two portions,
written in France.
Calf binding, pr. 45-. 6d. 2 fo. sublimis.
Collation: a8 (wants 1) i8-i68 | 178-35s (wants 8).
The quire marking is interesting. In the first part (Sermones
dominicales) the quires are usually marked vii. d, viii. d, etc., some-
times with G. prefixed.
In the second part, Sermones de Sanctis, they are marked i. s,
ii. s, etc., also with G. prefixed. Further, almost every quire is
marked on its last leaf: Cor(rectum) per gregorium. Quires 20,21,
24, 33 are not so marked. Quire 21 has on its first leaf Manfeld
v. s.
I see no mark of provenance.
