fourth have not the quotation from Seneca on the title-
pages). Title in red and black, five plates by Eisen, en-
graved by Le Grand, De Longueil and Pasquier. Original
boards, entirely uncut, with the printer’s autograph signature
on the first page of the table at the end of Vol. 111. Vi

M.DCC.LXII. | Avec Privilege de Nosseign. les Etats de
Hollands | & de Westfrise.\ (Paris, 1762.) £20
An issue unrecorded by Dufour. The title-page agrees in every
respect with that of the First Edition reproduced in Dufour’s
“ Bibliography.”
The collation of the present copy agrees with that given by Le
Petit with the following exceptions : (1) The imprint; (2) no half-
title to Vol. I ; (3) the plate in Vol. I has the legend “ Thetis,
Liv. I ” ; (4) the Privilege is in Vol. IV (following the title-page),
occupying 3 pages and finishing with 4 lines at the top of the fourth
page. The remainder of the fourth page contains the “ Fautes
a corriger dans les deux derniers Volumes.”
All the corrections called for in the Errata remain uncorrected in
the text. There are cartons at pp. 9/10 and 23/24 in Vol. I ; and
pp. 117/118 and 203/204 in Vol. II.
The preliminary leaves in each Vol. (6 in Vol. I ; 2 in each of the
other vols.) are on papier fort (cf. Dufour’s Bibliography, Tome 1,
P- 153)-
It is significant that this copy, in its original pristine state, should
have the Privilege and Errata for Vols. Ill and IV, placed in
Vol. IV. Generally both are found in the first volume of copies
with the La Haye imprint, therefore the present example seems to
be anterior to the “La Haye ” issue. Moreover, the mandate issued
in this same year, against the Author by the Archbishop of Paris
because of this work, quotes this imprint and not that of La Haye.
