high St at ion, the mo ft accompli]~hedLady in the Worlds is, upon this Account,
the nicejl Judge of diftinguifhed Merit in Others ; and therefore in making
Choice of Tou to he near to Her Perfon , had certainly Regard to that
Pleafure which Converfation gives with One who has improved a fine
Genius by an Acquaintance with ancient and modern Hiflory ; by Skill in
Mufic, and the Beauties of Poetry; and by the Study of the heft Authors >
not only in the Englifh Language, hut alfo in thofe Sources of Politenefs,
The French and Italian.

Nothing can raife the Value of fuch Attainments, but the being poffeffed
of them, as Tou are , without Pride and Affeclation; and the having
learned the Art of being admired, without being Vain; and to be Affable
and Courteous, without lojing the Refpecl due to Tour Char abler.

Such rare Endowments as Ihefe, joined to Tour Noble Birth, made Tou a
fit Confort for lour great Lord? fill more truly Honourable by his Qualities
of Mind ? than even by His High Family ; Who has paffed through the
great eft Offices of the State, both at Home andAbroad\ with fuch uncommon
Abilities, and fo much Lntegrity, that even Contending Parties have agreed
in doing Juftice to His Merit; Who has known how to temper the Severity
of Buftncfs with learned Amufements ; and has , at an Expence which
might become a Prince, and with true Judgement, colleBed together fuch
a ireafure of Monuments of Antiquity, that the Study of Thefe alone, is
a fufficient Fund of Inftru&ion in the noble Arts of Sculpture and Painting,
and in the Knowledge of the Cuftoms and Manners of Ancient Times.

That Tou may long live together, bright Ornaments of Tour Court and
Country,in the mutual Enjoyment of all manner of Happinefs, fhall be the
conftant Prayer of,
