lord the king—Abdkhiba your servant.
Bring aloud before my lord the king the
words, ' The whole territory of my lord, the
king, is going to ruin.'"

This last injunction to the scribe, to
impress the facts on the king, is curious ; it
bears such a stamp of sincerity that it seems
alive in its earnestness even now.

This Ili-milki or Milk-ili wrote also to
Egypt to clear his character.
