Slawomir Rzepka

Neither does he have the title hStj-r, which was dur-
ing this period a rather high honorific title. Actually only
two titles of Nst-tmA are attested in two lintel inscrip-
tions from his chapel: rh njswt (King’s Relative),
st nj pr-ri (Overseer of the Department of the Palace)
and an epithet nb jm >h hr nbf (Possessor of Honour in
the Presence of his Master). His titles testify that Nst-
tmA was an official of middle rank, who was active in
palace administration. They say, of course, nothing about
his possible participation in the celebration of heb-sed.
Thus the third interpretation, connecting the unusual dress
with a specific function (namely the participation in the
heb-sed celebrations), cannot be excluded, though is
impossible to prove.
Recapitulation
The original statue from the tomb of Nst-tmA,

unique as it is, can be interpreted in the following
way:
1) The strange technique of execution is a result of
an attempt to produce a large statue using as little of
the valuable material (white Turah limestone) as was
possible.
2) The unique dress is an imitation of the royal heb-
sed cloak. Usurpation of royal insignia should have
given royal aspects to Nst-tin A's afterlife.
An alternative explanation is that during the royal
heb-sed Nst-tmA played the role of hAj-r or jrj-
ntr, who were dressed with similar kind of cloak.
To commemorate this fact he ordered such an origi-
nal statue.
