Madę of strips of plain and open-work gold sheet, filigree, impressed figures of
gryphon and sphinx. Bracelets of this type occur in burials of Vetulonia and Cor-
neto. Analogies in the British Museum.

2. and 3. A pair of Greek spiral earrings with little women’s heads, Southern Italy,
4th century B. C.

Madę of gold (assay 0,980 — almost pure gold), weight a — 11,5 g, b — 14 g (the
filling substance included), inventory no. XI 467a, b.

Earrings madę of tubes of rather thick golden sheet, spiral, decorated with little
women’s heads, filigree and anthemion ornament.

4. Greek earring of the boat type, Southern Italy, middle of the 3rd century B. C.
Madę of gold (assay 0,750, about 18 carats), weight 3,0262 g. inventory nr. XI 1357.
An earring of semilunar shape, filigree, flower, and pearl motifs.

Similar earrings were found in Taranto, Duwanlia (Bułgaria) and in Kalymnos
(Greece).

5. Roman earring with pharaoh’s bust, Lower Egypt, lst—2nd century A. C.

Madę of almost pure gold, weight 0.8 g, inventory no. XI 1043.

A ring madę of golden sheet, at the front a bust of pharaoh in a double crown.
Analogous relic in Louvre.

6. Roman earring of the annular type, with a medallion, 2nd—3rd century A. C.
Madę of gold (assay 0.750—18 carats), weight 1.524 g, inventory nr. XI 311.

A ring madę of golden sheet, at the front a bust of pharaoh in a double crown,
filigree, pendants. Annular earrings with pendants appeared in Roman goldsmith’s
trade c. 200 B. C. Analogous earrings with medallions in the British Museum.

7. Arabo-Egyptian open-work medallion, Egypt, the lOth or llth c. A. D.

Madę of gold, weight 8.9012, inventory no. 1058.

Medallion composed of two open-work plates, plait, granulation, filigree, Salo-
mon star motif. The stones with which the medallion was originally ornamented
are missing. Analogies in decoration of numerous Mosiem relics.
