The Alphabets and Orthographical Marks.

The dialect most generally used in India, especially
among the Muhammadan inhabitants, the officers of go-
vernment and the military, is called Urdti (camp) or Urdu
zaban (camp-language), which seern to have been its first
and most appropriate appellations: but, it is also termed
Rekhta (scattered), on account. of the variety of languages
