SOME PEN-AND-INK SKETCHES
OF EQUIHEN BY
LESTER G. HORNBY
(The eight sketches here reproduced are selected from a series executed by the artist during a recent visit
to the little French fishing village of Equihen, a few miles from Boulogne. In making them he used an
ordinary fountain-pen and washed the values in with a brush and water, using only the ink left on the paper
by the pen. This he has found the most convenient method for recording passing effects in line and value.)
