Bohemia, and several residences in Berlin.
At the Berlin Art Exhibition of 1904 he was
represented by a series of furnished domes-
tic apartments which attracted considerable
attention. He also designs single articles
of furniture, metal utensils, grave monu-
ments, &c.
GUSSMANN, Professor Otto, 9 Nau-
mann Strasse, Dresden.
Originally a painter, Professor Gussmann early
turned his attention to the applied arts. His
numerousdesignsfor embroideries,textiles, and
wall coverings are well known, and latterly he
has designed compl ete interiors. At the German
Exhibition of Applied Art at Dresden in igo6 he
showed several gravestones, and a large mosaic
design for the apse of an Evangelical church
built by Professor Fritz Schumacher. Amongst
his recent important work is a painted ceiling
in the lobby of the First Upper Chamber of

the new “Standehaus” at Dresden. At the
present time he is engaged on decorative
paintings for the staircase in the “ Rathaus ”
at Dresden.
HARLFINGER-ZAKUCKA, Frau
Fanny, VZeindlhofergasse 7, Vienna.
Hitherto Frau Harlfinger-Zakucka has been
chiefly known by her modern toys, but latterly
she has turned her attention to designing furni-
ture, electroliers, lamps, &c. She has decorated
and furnished several houses, and has exhibited
at Vienna, Brtinn, London, Edinburgh, and
elsewhere. The nursery furniture illustrated
here (p. 8) was designed by her and executed
by J. Peyfuss, and the embroidered panneaux
and toys were both designed and executed by
her. The carpet is from one of her designs,
which has been carried out by the firm of Hirt.
The frieze was designed and executed by the
pupils of Professor Bohm in the Kunstschule
fur Frauen und Madchen, Vienna.
