exhibitions of recent years (Munich, Dresden,
and Cologne) with interiors and examples
of porcelain of much distinction, executed
from his designs by the Nymphenburg Fac-
tory. Besides these he has produced a large
number of designs for textiles and metal arti-
cles of all kinds. He is one of the artistic
collaborators of the “Vereinigte Deutsche
Werkstatten” at Munich.

Frau Oppler-Legband first became known by
her embroidery. But she also designs metal
■work and has fitted up several rooms in the
German Lyceum Club at Berlin; while a room
equipped by her formed part of the Applied Art
section of the Great Exhibition at Berlin in
1908. At the present time she is at the head of
the ladies’ artistic dress department of Messrs.
Wertheim's establishment. Recently she has
gained credit for reviving pearl embroidery.

Mr. Rawlence, besides being a painter, has
devoted himself to several branches of the
applied arts. Some of his embroideries were
exhibitedat the Franco-British Exhibition held
in London last year, and he has designed several
chests and cabinets (one of which is illustrated
on the next page) in oak, elm, and cedar, with
ornamental polished iron fittings.
