decorative panel for a staircase designed and executed by baron a. rosenkrantz

ROPE, Miss Margaret A., The Priory,
Shrewsbury.
Miss Margaret Rope is a young artist in stained
glass. The example illustrated on this page is
characteristic of her work.
ROSENKRANTZ, Baron Arild, 18
Clareville Grove, London.
Baron Rosenkrantz is a designer of decorative

work and a craftsman in stained glass and
metal. He has also painted several pictures
(usually of a sacred character), and portraits,
some of which will be remembered by visitors
to the New Gallery, London. The latter in-
cluded an admirable portrait of Madame
Melba and another of Mr. Lewis Waller as
Henry V. But it is by his stained glass and
mural paintings that Baron Rosenkrantz has
been best able to express himself, and in this
direction he has met with consider-
able success. One of his most im-
portant works in stained glass is
the window which he executed for
the Earl of Plymouth’s private
chapel at Hewell Grange, illus-
trating the lines, “Blessed are they
that do the commandments.” More
recently he has completed windows
for Oakford Church, Devonshire,
Welbeck Abbey, and Foxcombe.
He has executed the mosaic over
the font in St. Andrew’s Church,
Streatham (the cartoon for which
was exhibited at the New Gallery
last year) ; decorative panels for
Crathorne Hall, Yorkshire, one of
which, representing “Night,” is re-
produced on this page; and a panel
for Simpson’s Restaurant in the
Strand, London. He also carried
out a scheme for the decoration of
the ceiling in the large dining hall
at Claridge’s Hotel, London. An
