suggested by some natural object, as will be seen
by the examples given here. No attempt is made
to actually reproduce the object, but Nature’s forms
are adapted with remarkable artistic discrimination,
when they lend themselves to the particular deco-
ration suited to the piece. The vases reproduced
on pages no and in are typical examples of the
Martin Brothers’ craftsmanship.

MEAD, Miss M. Grace, i Russell Road, Ken-
sington, London.
Miss Mead designs and executes woodcarving. She
showed five panels, representing “ HIsop’s Fables,”
at the Franco-British Exhibition in London last
year, and an alms dish at the last Exhibition of
the Arts and Crafts Society, held at the Grafton
Galleries. She was awarded a bronze medal for
two panels which she exhibited at the Carpenters’
Hall. The panel illustrated here, “ Little Red
Riding Hood,” was executed in satin walnut for a
nursery cupboard.

Miss Moller designs and executes woodcarv-
ing, and is represented here by a panel for a
small oak cupboard, which was made up by
Mr. T. Beard.
