NEUWIRTH, Fraulein
Rosa, Vienna.
Fraulein Neuwirth is a young
artist who is devoting herself to
ceramics, and is still studying at
the Imperial School for Arts and
Crafts in Vienna the theory and
practice of her craft. Her designs
usually represent some form of
animal life, and in order to perfect
herself in their modelling she has
carefully studied the habits and
movements of various birds and
animals. She has attained con-
siderable success in this direc-
tion, and her exhibit at the “ Kunst-
schau” last year received favour-
able attention.

PETERSEN, Joachim, The
Copenhagen Art Pottery JVirks,
Aluminia.
Mr. Petersen has for several years been
devoting himself to the development of the
Copenhagen faience, and has executed nu-
merous designs therein. Amongst his recent
notableworks maybe mentioned the “Parrot”

MYCOCK, W. S., Wardley Lane,
Swinton, Manchester.
Mr. Mycock is a designer of, and crafts-
man in pottery, and is connected with
Messrs. Pilkington’s Tile and Pottery
Works at Clifton Junction. The bowl
in silver lustre illustrated here, of a
scale and diaper pattern, was designed
and painted by him for that firm. Other
examples of Messrs. Pilkington’s well-
known “ Lancastrian ” pottery will be
found on pages 102, 104, 107 and 116.
It is, however, impossible in a black-
and-white reproduction to do justice to
this beautiful lustre ware, the great
charm of which is the rich colouring.
