POWELL, Harry, Whitefriars
Glass Works, London.
Mr. Harry Powell is head of Messrs.
James Powell & Sons, whose glass
is famous all over the world. White-
friars glass enjoys a reputation,
both as regards its artistic merits
and its technical qualities, which
places it at the head of all other
glassware produced either in Eng-
land or on the Continent. The
goblet, with an air-twist in the
stem, illustrated on page 114, has
been executed by Mr. T. Smith, and
the fish and bubbles engraved by
Mr. T. Hillebauer. Several examples
of Whitefriars glass appeared in
The Studio Year Books for 1906
and 1907, while other examples
are reproduced on page 118 of this
volume.
