If paid in another currency a fee equivalent
to 50 D.Kr. should be added, postage not in-

tainable from the address below.
Articles and material offered for publication in fu-
ture issues of Tools and Tillage should be type-
written and sent to one of the editors. Books for

The Journal acts as a guide to research in every aspect of the subject, not only the implements themselves,
but also field systems and methods of cultivation and cropping, including linguistic as well as functional
aspects. Its coverage is from the beginnings of cultivation to the industrial era in every part of the world.
The primary emphasis is on material relating to Europe and such areas as have influenced or have been
influenced by Europe, by contacts within recent centuries, and with regard to the historical development
of agriculture through its actual practice and through written theory. In this way Tools and Til-
lage can consider, inter alia, links between China and Europe, and between Europe and the New
World.
Die Zeitschrift wirkt als illustrierter Fiihrer durch alle Sparten der einschlagigen Forschung und be-
handelt nicht nur die Gerate selbst, sondern auch die Feldwirtschaft und die Struktur der Felder sowie
sprachliche und funktionelle Aspekte. Die ins Auge gefaEte Zeitspanne reicht von den Anfangen des
Bodenbaus bis zur Industrialisierung in alien Teilen der Erde. Das Schwergewicht liegt auf Materialien
mit Bezug zu Europa und solchen Gebieten, die Europa beeinfluEt haben oder von ihm durch Kontakte
in vergangenen Jahrhunderten beeinfluEt wurden, und zwar im Hinblick auf die geschichtliche Ent-
wicklung des Ackerbaus durch seine praktische Ausiibung und die schriftliche Darstellung seiner The-
orie. Dadurch kann sich Tools and Tillage beispielsweise mit Verbindungen zwischen China und
Europa und zwischen Europa und der Neuen Welt befassen.
