Langengrassau; ard. K-2529: 880±80 BP;
cal.years 1175 AD; 1035-1255 AD cal. ± 1 st.d.
Wood of oak (Quercus sp.) from an ard found
in 1979 during mud-clearance in a stream and
repeated drainage in a depression near Lan-
gengrassau, c. 70 km south of Berlin, District
of Luckau, Brandenburg, Germany. The ard
is of the crook type with sole, 66 cm, and
beam (101.2 cm) made from a bifurcated
branch. Since the holes for a stilt and share
are not yet made the direct reference to the
ard type, which the Dabergotz ard repre-
sents, is not evident (Fries 1995, 202; Lerche
1985, 99; Vogt 1984, 279-288, fig. 2) no figure.

Museum No. 274/ 1962; Hg 7107 NM VIII
4644. Submitted by the International Secre-
tariat for Research on the History of Agricul-
tural Implements.
The date and period of use corresponds
with similar dated plough pieces, cf. K-598
and K-599. The plough is in Silkeborg Mu-
seum (Fries 1995, 209; Lerche 1968, 56;
Lerche 1970, 131-134; Lerche & Steensberg
1980, 83; Lerche 1994, 29-30). Fig. 18.
