Several finds of interest in this connection
relate to the Bronze Age. A manufactured
wooden object or tool has been found in a
barrow, the High Grave, near the village of
Balky in the Ukraine. The first grave - in
which this tool was found - was erroneously
attributed to the pit-grave culture of the

Early Bronze Age by the investigators (Bid-
zilya, Jakovenko 1973). But later, M. M. Niki-
tenko showed convincingly that it should be
related to the later Catacomb culture of the
Bronze Age (c. 1500 B.C.) (Nikitenko 1977).
The tool was found at the bottom of the grave
to the left of the skeleton of the defunct. Also
