Fabeln wurden im J. 1717 zum Teil von einem Mr. E. Stacy in eng-
lische Verse umgesetzt ') und seine Fabel: A League of Beasts and Fiskes
wurde im Jahre 1712 paraphrasiert:
The Fable of the Cods-Heads: or a Reply to the Duteh-Men's
Answer to the Resolution of the House of Commons. London 1712.
Thomas Yalden (1671—1736)2) nahm fast alle seine Fabeln aus
L'Estrange und auch William Somerville (1692 nach Johnson, 1665
nach dem D.N.B. —1742)3) schöpfte reichlich aus dem berühmten eng-
lischen Fabulisten. Man mufs Yalden sowohl, wie Somerville grofse
