mière édition avait paru dès 1476 chez
Pafquier Bonhome, fut donnée, en 149j,
par Antoine Verard, demourant devant
Noßre - Dame de Paris, à l'Tmage de
Saméi Jehan l'e'uangeliße, ou au Palais,
au premier pillier deuant la chapelle où
l'on chante la meffe de meffeigneurs du
parlement. Ce livre eft un des plus efti-
més des Incunables de l'imprimerie pari-
fienne. Vers 1» même date parut chez cet
éditeur la Mer des hißoires, de Comeßor
(in-fol. fur 2 col. goth.). Les illuftrations
ci-contre, qui en font tirées, ont toutes
trait à l'hiftoire de la Vierge & paraiffent
empruntées à l'un de ces beaux Livres
d'heures gothiques, fi précieux par leur
fplendide exécution &. édités par ce grand
libraire-artifte dès 1488. (Sera continué,)

The fécond édition of the Chronicles of
France, from the Trojans to the death of
Charles the Seventh, was given, in 149J,
by Antoine Verard dwelling before Noßre-
Dame of Paris, at the ßgn of Saint John
the eyangeliß. or at the Palace cf JußUe,
near the firß pillar before the chapel in
which the mafs is fung for mylords of
Parliament. This book was alfo known
under the name olSainâ-Denys' Chronicles.
Its firft édition appeared during 1476 at
Pafquier Bonhome's. This work is greatly
efteemed as one of the moft precious
Incunables of Parifiau printing. Towards
the faine period appeared, at Antoine
Verard's, the Sea of hißories, by Come-

above illuftrations are taken from it, and
reprefent différent feene? of the Virgin's
life; tliey fcem to bave been borrowed
from one of thefe fine Gothic Booh of
prayers, fo precious for their fplendid
exécution , which hâve been edited by
the great pùblifiier-artift towards 1488.
