Nous avons déjà montré de trois quarts cette étrange et belle
figure symbolique en terre cuite, sorte de sphinx dont il est
difficile, an moins pour nous, de donner la signification spéciale,

sinon qu'elle appartient à la mythologie grecque. Ce sphinx de-
vait trouver sa place à l'entrée d'un temple quelconque. îl est
à remarquer que la figure assise est dans les conditions ordi-

naires. Le siège seul vient rappeler le sphinx grec avec un
corps de lion et des ailes d'aigle. (Voyez l'Art pour tous,
