Head of a Slave
In terms of style, a pervasive Hellenistic quality in the bearded digni-
taires and soldiers with long noses, deeply-set eyes, heavy brows, and up-
turned heads gives a facial expressiveness to these figures (Figs. 16, 18-
20, 23-24) comparable to the Dying Warrior keystone reliefs (begun 1696)
