EARLY CYCLADIC (A 361-A 367).
A 361. FRAGMENT from base of vase. L. 4J in. Coarse clay, black to reddish brown. On
the base is the impression of a woven mat on which the vessel stood when the clay was wet.
Primitive hand-made ware. As A 323 and Phylakopi, pi. vi.
A 362. FRAGMENT, similar. L. 5J in. Fabric and mat impression as in preceding example. .
A 363. FRAGMENT from rim of dish. L. 6j in. Coarse brown clay, covered with a thin red
wash and burnished. Shallow curved vessel with flat rim.
A 364. FRAGMENT of handle and rim. L. 3 in. Loose brown clay, black on surface, with
dark purple-red burnished coating. The handle is a round loop. ' Red lustre ware' : Pliylakopi,
p. 87.
A 365. FRAGMENT from base of large vase. L. 6'2 in. Similar purple-red wash, but' not
burnished.
A 366. FRAGMENT from base of vase. L. 3 in. Finer fabric : hard grey-brown clay with
bright red wash.
A 367. FRAGMENT of large vase. L. 5I in. Coarse reddish-grey clay, covered with a thin
black wash on which is drawn a thick curved line enclosing a hatched space, in white paint.
This piece resembles Early Minoan III ware of Crete.

A 368. FRAGMENT of bowl. L. 3j in. Coarse red clay covered with a thin white slip.
Painted geometrical patterns of parallel straight lines and curves with hatched angles in dull

A 369. FRAGMENT. L. z\ in. PaL green clay with design in dull black colour ; rows of
circles, one with centre dotted, between horizontal waved and looped bands. (Fig. 82 ;

A 370. FRAGMENT from shoulder of vase. L. 2i in. Dark red clay, with lustrous surface of
the same colour, and on this painted designs in white : a horizontal band and line of dots,
and minute detached circles and zig-zags picked out with dots. Thin hard ware. (Fig. 82 ;
