life to God and as far as His manhood is concerned He found Himself in a new state — that
of a victim.27 Before death Christ was the foreseen, potential Victim, which had to die volun-
tarily. As a result of His death He became the real (in actu) Victim, a gift belonging to God
the Father. St Paul like the Hebrews considers the sacrifice of Christ as a gift presented to God
the Father, an offering (prosfora). Christ, actuated by obedience and love, offered the sacrifice
of Himself, His gift — the offering — is identical to His return to Father.28

de santo Tomas de Aquino", Ciencia y Fe, XX, 1964, p.3-33.

28. On this return of Christ see John 13, 1: Anie diem feslum Paschae venit hora eius ul transeat ex hoc mundo ad Patrem.
