the l'lorentine design is engraved and not stippled and is more formal. Certainly less distinctive
is an abstracted variant of the chapelet formed by the impressions of round punches grouped
into hexa-circles (fig. 6). It is used in some smaller haloes of Alvaro while the smali ones feature
these round impressions repeated simply in a row.

There is a decorative feature that seems to belong to Alvaro's later productions, namely the
;patterning of the gold background with large floral forms, perheps evoking brocade hanging.
