The ąuestion is which versions to regard as authentic and which as copies.
There is no agreement in the literaturę, mostly because there has not yet been
a systematic study of Marinus and his work in the literaturę.2 It is my objective
to fili at least part of this gap.
2 The closest has come Annę Milkers in her non-public licentiate thesis: Omtrent Marinus van
Reymerswaele, State University of Gent, 1985, 246 pp., which she has madę available to me after
submission of this manuscript.
