PI. XXVII; MonAnt. IV, col. 205, Fig. 93 and col. 499,
3 from Barnabei’s Tomb XLI, a trench-tomb, which
contained also a krater ornamented with gryphons’ heads
which must be contemporary with the bronze vases orna-
mented with gryphons’ heads from the Barberini and
Bernardini Tombs; No. 15 from Narce 2 F, PI. XXXIII
and No. 22 from Narce 105 F, PL XXV, both similar but
smaller. Similar also except for the handles are No. 12
from Narce 71 M, PL VII and No. 19 from Narce 1,
PL XXX.
11. Cf. No. 11 from Narce 109 F, PL VIII; Nos. 13-15

well derive from a wooden prototype with bronze hoops.
17. Cf. the coils with similarly enlarged ends from
Vetulonia, Montelius, Pl. 198, 10; from the Tomba delle
Tre Navicelle, id. Pl. 194, 2 from the Tomba del Littore;
and Montelius, Pl. 178, 10.
19. Cf. No. 59 from Narce 1, Pl. XXXII; MonAnt. IV,
cols. 379 and 490, 3 and 4 from Barnabei’s Tomb
XXXVII, Narce; id. Pl. IX, 43 and cols. 379 and 511,
1-3 from a chamber-tomb, LII, Narce; id. cols. 218 and
222, Fig. 99q from Tomb XVIII, Montarano.
21. Cf. MonAnt. IV, col. 511, 1-3, and PL IX, 42
from Barnabei’s Tomb LII, a chamber-tomb.
24. Cf. id. col. 222, Fig. 99q from Tomb XVIII,
Montarano; StEtr. V, p. 533, 10 and Pl. 27, 4 in the
Palazzo Conservatori; id. Ill, p. 493, 2 and PL LV, 2, a
bronze statuette in the Vatican; Marshall, p. 108, 1256,
and Pl. XV; Hanfmann, p. 6 and footnote 22, where the
five figures of Sakhmet from this tomb are mistaken
for Nefertem.
25. Cf. No. 12 from Narce 24 M, Pl. XVII, tomb-
fellow of faience figurines of Ptah-Seker-Osiris and Bes;
MonAnt. IV, col. 441, No. 20 and Pl. X, 9 from Barnabei’s

Tomb XXXII, tomb-fellow again of figurines of Bes;

Vetulonia.
27-29. Cf. No. 25 from Narce 2 F, PL XXXIV, and
Nos. 51 and 52 from Narce 7 F, Pi. XXXVII.
31. Cf. Nos. 19 and 20 from Narce 18 B, Pl. TV and
No. 14 from Narce 24 M, PL XVII.
34. Cf. BullCom. 1928, Pl. 5. Barnabei reports that
the necklace from his Tomb XXXVII, MonAnt. IV, col.
490, 3 and 4 cited as comparable to our No. 19 from this
tomb, had as a central pendant ornament a “piccola ascia
di diorite.” It may be that our spear-point was so worn.
Cf. also id. XV, Pl. XIII, 6 and col. 168.
