Nice editions of the important Consilia of B. Montagnana, “toto orbe famosissimus” as he 1s
sometirües called, who was the first of a line of Professors of the name who lectured at Padua du-
ring nearly two centuries (Osler p. 27).
The Consilia of whidi Montagnana gives some 305, usually tun over the patient’s physical
condition and disease, winding up with seasonable advice as to what to eat, what drugs to take
and what thlngs to avoid, etc. (Garrison).
Of special filterest is his treatise on the baths of Padua.
On 1. numb, 471 begin the Consilia of Ant. Cermisonus containing many good obser-
