A most interesting medical MS. in German, consisting of 251 fol. leaves,
written by Jorg Schreiber for the knight Hans der Hofkircher,
in 1442, on paper. It contains:
1. on fol. 2r—112r „Liber medicinialis primus44, a work in German on
anatomy, urinology, surgery, pathology, phlebotomy,
pharmacology, containing also excerpts from the Pseudo-Aristotelic Re-

older German „Practica“ of Bartholomaeus Salernitanus, of which
only 11 MSS. are known (See Haeser, I. 663 seqq.) Upon this German trans-

commentary quoting the date, the writer and the knight who had ordered
the work.
4. on fol. 181r—183r. Several recipes in German and Latin: a magic
powder, a cosmetic recipe, etc.
5. on fol. 183v—251v. „Ein anders edell Erczney puech und hat gedicht
ein maister der hies Partholomeus", dated Christmas, 1442. A second treatise
of the „Practica“ of Bartholomaeus Salernitanus, with similar contents. It is
followed by a compendious appendix of various recipes and spells.
This important MS is not quite perfect, preceding fol. 5 three leaves are
wanting, preceding fol. 58 one leaf: at the beginning and at the end some lea-
ves are wanting. 27 leaves are mended and repaired with some loss of text.
