Druckers, in einer einzigen Type (Haebler 6) auf starkes körniges Papier gedruckt.
Ohne die 8 Bll. „Rubricae“, wie fast immer, da sie der Rubrikator an den betreffenden
Stellen eingefügt hat.
Gut erhaltenes, fast fleckenloses Exemplar, mit roten u. blauen eingemalten Ini-
tialen. Die Tabula findet sich am Ende eingebunden.
Alphonsus de Spina, jüdischer Abkunft, Minorit zu S. Abrojo in Valla-
dolid, Rektor zu Salamanca, 1466 Bischof zu Orense, t 1469. Das Werk ist eine Apologie
des christl. Glaubens wider Sarazenen, Juden u. Ilaeretiker.

poenitentiales sind aus dem 5. Band seiner Summa de Casibus Conscientiae entnommen
u. stellen, in 47 Regeln geteilt, eine Auslese der Bekenntnisse Bonaventuras dar.

A splendid typographical monument of the early time o f
printing. Perhaps the second edition of the Catholicon, as Rusch, according to
a rubricator’s note in another book, printed as early as 1464. Only 1 copy in U. S. A.
according to Winship.
A very fine copy with broad margins, rubricated and with many large and small
red painted initials. Quite insignificant worming on the first and last leaves, margin
of last leaf partly mounted, partly supplied with a few syllables of the text in faithful
facsimile, otherwise in irreprochable condition. On first leaf an old MS. note and
stamp.
The Catholicon is the first printed dictionary of the Latin language. Its name
means „General“, that is to say, it contains all that is necessary for an adequate
understanding of Latin literature. The author, Joh. Baibus, was born at Genova
(= Janua) and flourished during the second half of the XIHth Century.
