A very rare Americanum. Original edition. The map of Schondia comprises not
only the special regions coneerned (as well as Ireland, Scotland and Germany), but
also Islandia, Grönlandia, Ulteriora incognita, and Terra Bacallaos.
In the text there is a notice referring to the discovery of America (1. 92 vo), and
there is a mention of Antonius Cabot’s voyage, and of Spanish expeditions to the
North-East of the New Continent. Ziegler’s map of Schondia is particularly remarkable
for showing for the first time a Continental conjunction between Europa and America.
The map is reproduced in Nordenskjöld’s Facsimile Atlas no. 81.
A very well preserved copy with broad margins. On front cover are the Initials P. E. F.
